The Mosaic Investigation is an inter-agency taskforce, set up to investigate the GBO. It was formed from the details seen by Mark Benford in his flashforward. Following orders from Stan Wedeck, the FBI is represented by Benford, Demetri Noh and Janis Hawk.

One of the first actions of the Mosaic Investigation was the creation of The Mosaic Collective, a website where people from across the world are urged to report what they saw in their flashforwards.

Following the vision in his flashforward, Benford also put up a Mosaic Investigation wall in his office, pinpointing clues about the GBO.

The Investigation's first breakthrough was when FBI agent Janis Hawk, going though security tapes and webcams from across the world, discovered an individual who had remained conscious during the blackout.
